“100% of all adult adoptees in the U.S. and around the world surveyed in 2019 believe they should have access to their adoption documents and original birth certificates.” – Rev. Dr. Janine Vance, Author
I am Rev. Dr. Janine Vance, one of the co-founders of Adoption Truth and Transparency. My twin and I started this forum on Nov 5, 2011. In the beginning, and some of you might remember, we started as a public group. It was chaotic because the public had received a superficial perspective of the adoption practice for so long. Eventually, we changed the group to a ‘closed’ forum to include only adopted people and families separated so that members can feel safe and be validated by others who are empathetic and truly understands. We can barely believe it’s been almost 11 years since we started.
“Support one another to seek truth, justice, and peace.” Janine Vance
Adoption Truth aims to educate the people on some hidden aspects and lack of rights for us and validate the adoptee rights community. As you might know, adopted people are still discriminated against. And there is a stigma against adoptees and parents (of loss) and permanently separated families encounter that no other from the population is forced to contend with. If you did not have a perfect adoptive family, you probably have encountered some challenges in your own life that have to do with adoption.
Truth Does Matter!
It has been my lifelong mission to inform the locals and communities about the hidden aftermath of adoption so that young people can make an informed choice and the older generations can regain the basic human right to access adoption documents that pertain to each individual–if we so wish. There is still much work to be done. The more informed people are, the better chance there is to recover and reconnect with blood relatives.
We thank you for joining us (and seeing the bigger picture!).

Are you a domestic, late-discovery, transracial, international adoptee, parents and/or family member separated by adoption?
We Are Adoption.
Adoption Truth and Transparency Worldwide Information Network (ATTWIN) was initiated on November, 5th 2011, hosted by Adoption Trafficking. We are a unique activist organization that uses various mediums to fulfill its mission to critique adoption policies and procedures, raise awareness, and share diverse adoption experiences. Simply put, our goal is to create a place that gives a well-rounded perspective on the adoption processes and policies. Members include domestic, late-discovery, transracial, internationally adopted people, and families separated by adoption from every continent.
What people are saying...
"We spend our whole lives explaining and justifying. This is a place we don't have to do that and can focus on our own pain and extend our understanding."
"I love the spaces where we can speak without hesitancy & without all the opposing voices. The non-adopted will never understand our stance in all its varying degrees & with their personal bias."
"From my experience, I believe that Adoption Truth & Transparency is essential for my fellow adopted individuals to overcome his or her obstacles and to support one another to seek Truth, Justice, and Peace."
"Being able to ask questions in an adoptee-centric network without adoptive parents intervening can be lifesaving."
